Abstract:   (5984 Views)
Climate change poses considerable consequences and impacts on global warming, agricultural production, plant diversity and vegetation cover, groundwater level, social and economic status of people and so on. Understanding the effects of climate change on the environment is required to identify strategies to mitigate its effects on the environment.CanESM2 as a general circulation model under three scenarios of rcp26, rcp45, and rcp85 was used to study the impacts of different climate change scenarios on temperature and precipitation characteristics of rangelands in Chaharmahal-va-Bakhtiari province. The results showed that all scenarios exhibit an increase in the average daily temperature in October to March (autumn and winter) and a decrease in April to September (spring and summer). The average annual temperature will increase between 1.6 to 1.8 ° C under all the three scenarios. As temperature increase in winter, rainfall becomes the dominant precipitation form, hence there is not enough snow storage and lack of the summer season floods in contrary more floods in winter and spring happen. Lower temperature in spring leads to delay in flowering and growth of range plants and cause some problems for feeding livestock in the area. Results of daily precipitation changes under the three scenarios showed more rainfall in spring and summer and a decrease in winter precipitation. The correlations between observed and calibrated temperature and precipitation data were 0.984 and 0.97, respectively in the period of 1961-2000. Due to the impacts of temperature and precipitation changes on the production and composition of rangelands, these impacts have profound effects on the restoration and reclamation programs in rangeland ecosystems.
