There is a good potential in medicinal plants production in Golestan province due to its capabilities. This study aimed to identify medicinal plants uses and prioritize the enterprises related to them in Chaharbagh rangelands - Golestan province. A qualitative method including depth interviews and questionnaire with local communities and experts of medicinal plants were used to conduct this research. The purposeful sampling method was used to complete questioners from 65 people. Questionnaires were designed based on the results of the qualitative step and literature review. Exploratory studies and content analysis in two hierarchical levels were used to extract the questions. The validity of questionnaires was confirmed by a panel of experts and its reliability was tested by Cronbach alpha coefficient using SPSS23 software. The relative weight of the given scores calculated by Expert Choice software. The scores of questions were ranked based on the Likert scale at each level. Results showed that there are nine important medicinal plants in Chaharbagh rangelands and the most important priority of related enterprises was business of production and services (relative weight 0.42) and initial processing of medicinal plants (relative weight of 0.23) at first level. The other identified enterprises were marketing (relative weight of 0.27), planting (relative weight of 0.2), powder, and packaging of medicinal plants (relative weight of 0.28) and making tea bag by medicinal plants (relative weight of 0.25). Although extraction, packaging, and drying of medicinal plants such as Mentha spp, and Thyme have a high capacity for producing various enterprises, the locals are required to be trained for these purposes. It is reccomended that range managers initiate cultivation of medicinal plants in the rangelands to create additional alternative livelihoods.
