Preference value of species could be useful for land holders to present practical solution for selecting suitable, livestock according to kind of species and suitability of rangeland for animal grazing. Investigation of preference value of species grazed by camel and cow, were conducted in Chapar-Ghoymeh, Golestan province, Iran. This experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design with 4×2 factorial arrangement. Four growing seasons and two livestock (camel and cattle) were taken into the plan. Two Turkmen humped camels and two native cows with age range of 3-4 years were used. A chronometer was used to track uptake of livestock from each species in 90-minute morning time. The results showed that the time spent on grazing by camel and cattle differed significantly in spring, i.e. camel grazing period is larger than cow. Results also shows that Atriplex lentiformis is more grazed in winter, spring and summer than other species. Having said that, in the autumn, Salsola vermiculata was the first choice of both animals. The results of the interaction between livestock species and plant species showed that In the summer, autumn Alhagi camelorum, and Salsola vermiculata, along with Atriplex, are prefered by camel. The cow has put Atriplex lentiformis at its highest preference in the three seasons of spring, summer and winter, but in the autumn, Trifolium scabrum is more likely to be used at most. Development of camel industry in the region is the suggestion of the study. Because the ecological tolerance of this species in the harsh climatic conditions of the region is greater.
